The Game box
We turned our favourite card game into an app and now we’re turning the BONK app back into a tabletop game box. And we are excited!️ This is the third prototype in the search for perfection, and we’re starting to love the feel. The paper texture, the lacquer, the colours, everything is coming together SO nicely. We even ran it for a test-spin the other night and all agreed we are pretty close to the final version of this. Although it felt pretty weird playing it IRL after all this time getting used to playing on the app. My turn to shuffle? Again??
If you’re into the details
The box will feature 2 deck of cards with special two’s, a rulebook and the rules. The design of the box is balanced between “fun card game” and “coffee table design”, as we feel it’s important to make it nice enough to keep out at all times. So we’re keeping the design pretty clean but with clear hints of the game. The colours and working with effects like lacquer was important to right level of quality. But. The cards are obviously the most important part to get right. Texture, thickness, weight, illustrations, EVERYTHING matters. A lot. So we’ve been scouting around and testing different versions till it felt perfect. Easy to shuffle, Easy to deal, comfortable in your hand, a sense of luxury.
What’s next?
As we are pretty happy with this last round of prototype, we are now doing a few last adjustments on the design, before sending it to print and production.
